Dr. Mauricio Merino

Dr. Mauricio Merino has a doctorate degree in Political Science from the Universidad Complutense in Madrid. Currently, he is a visiting fellow at the Center for U.S.-Mexican Studies. In addition, he is a professor and researcher in the Public Administration Division of the Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas (CIDE) in Mexico City. He is national researcher level II of the Sistema Nacional de Investigadores (SNI) and regular member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences. He has undertaken research projects in various areas: public policy, local governments, professionalization and civil service, transparency, and ethics in the public sector. He has written and coordinated several books and papers addressing these topics. Some of his more recent publications include: El régimen municipal en los Estados Unidos Mexicanos (2007); La gestión profesional de los municipios en México (2006); Los desafíos del servicio profesional de carrera en México (2006); and La transición votada (2003).
