Post Doctoral Program
2006-2007 Competition
The Center for U.S.-Mexican Studies at the University of California, San Diego invites applications for two postdoctoral fellowships (open to applicants from any discipline) for research related to Mexico or U.S.-Mexican relations. Postdoctoral fellows are expected to be in residence for a period of two academic years and to teach an average of one class per year in an academic unit of UCSD. Stipends range from $3000-$5000 per month (plus benefits, on a 12-month basis) commensurate with experience and academic rank. Applicants must plan to complete the PhD by August 2006.
Current funding sources are restricted to citizens of Mexico or recent graduates with advanced degrees from any campus of the University of California system. We do not expect to be able to fund postdoctoral fellows from outside these two groups during the 2006-2007 academic year. The Center currently has two in-house projects with funds earmarked for research fellowships: rural financial markets and rural development; and public health and HIV/AIDS policy in Mexico. Applications are not, of course, restricted to these topics.
Candidates not selected for the Post Doc Program will automatically be considered for the Visiting Fellows Program, unless otherwise designated on the application form.
The Center for U.S.-Mexican Studies is an organized research unit of UCSD dedicated to research on Mexico and U.S.-Mexican relations. The Center’s programs include an active visiting scholars program, an annual Summer Seminar in U.S. Studies, research projects related to policy and policymaking in Mexico, and a series of conferences and workshops.
